arenisca REINA ® sandstone
Ocher-toned sandstone with a brownish-orange streak due to the presence of iron oxides. The percentage of quartz exceeds 95%, which allows it to be classified as a medium grain quartz sandstone. The rock is also made up of another series of accessory minerals that are found in a smaller proportion such as Muscovite, Biotite, Plagioclase, Chert and Opaque. Grains are cemented by clay and secondary quartz.
The rock is extracted in large blocks from a quarry located in the province of Burgos, Spain, where the Lower Cretaceous sedimentary packages form the Weald facies emerge. The material is carried to the Company’s workshop, located in Vilviestre del Pinar (Burgos, Spain), where it is transformed in cladding, seating, flooring, masonry… with all possible finishes that can be given to this stone, such as sawn cut, bush hammered, honed, split, pitched, stripped, etc.
Its most common use is for cladding, although its warm colour makes it ideal for internal use.
