HACIENDA EL TERNERO CELLAR, BURGOS

El Ternero is a small Burgos enclave in La Rioja Alta, belonging to the monastery of Santa María de Herrera, between Miranda de Ebro and Haro.

This traditional construction in sandstone, called guardaviñas or chozo, was used as a refuge for vine farmers and their animals against inclement weather; These are rural stone buildings with a circular floor plan and a false dome, very common in La Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Tierra de Campos. Performed in arenisca Dorada Urbión sandstone.
